2 - Le Tanneur: A French Leather Goods Maison
The story of our Maison began in 1898 in the east of France, in Belley. At the dawn of a new century, the whole of France was in celebration, a common occurrence during the Belle Époque. The youth, full of optimism and confidence, embraced trends as they emerged—an opportunity for our Maison to draw directly from the French art of living to craft its first leather goods.

This was soon followed by the opening of numerous boutiques, each one reinforcing the Maison’s guiding principle: to embody French elegance and to share a love for fine materials and well-crafted leather goods. These words remain unchanged 125 years later. Our Rue de Sèvres boutique stands as a testament to this enduring philosophy.

3 - Leather, Our Expertise
For over a century, we have passed down the Maison’s expertise from generation to generation. The history written by Le Tanneur is an endless source of techniques and inspiration, enabling us to create today’s leather goods and imagine those of tomorrow. Whether small or large leather goods, every piece benefits from a creative approach deeply rooted in the historical craftsmanship of our ateliers.

Like our predecessors, we ensure that our Maison remains aligned with its era, expertise, and values. This philosophy is epitomized by our Sans-Couture design, an iconic coin purse that won a silver medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900. We still produce it today, offering it in expanded formats: handbags, clutches, satchels, and cardholders.
